If you paid more for a used tractor than it cost new…and its 60 year’s old…you just might be an old tractor nut! If your favorite shirt is the same color as your tractor…you just might be an old tractor nut! If you own 16 vehicles…but only have a title for one….you just might be an old tractor nut!
“Tractor nuts” are welcome to the 17th Annual KICD Antique Tractor Ride, June 9th – 11th. KICD Radio in Spencer, IA has been organizing this annual “trek on tractors” since 2000 and it has become a family affair. This year’s ride will travel the back roads of Jackson and Martin Counties. Riders will be converging from many states on the Jackson County Fairgrounds, Thursday, June 9th. It has become a family tradition for many riders, coming “home” from as far away as New York and Arizona. Besides the camaraderie talking with other tractor enthusiasts, traveling down the road at 12mph gives you the opportunity to really “see” what you may have driven past a hundred times.
Tractors will start arriving on the Jackson County Fairgrounds on Thursday afternoon as the riders congregate for a fellowship and a meal served up by the Jackson County Fair Board.
On Friday, over 125 riders will leave the fairgrounds in Jackson and travel to a morning break at Brown County Park on Loon Lake hosted by the Petersburg 4-H Club. They will have a lunch break at the Round Lake Winery before they head back to Jackson.
Saturday’s route will have a morning stop in Dunnell, hosted by the Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Dunnell Fire Department, Farmer’s State Bank of Dunnell, Garlick’s Water of Blue Earth and the City of Dunnell. Our lunch stop will be at the City Park in Sherburn, hosted by the Sherburn Lions Club and the Martin County Pork Producers.
Thursday and Friday evenings the tractors will be parked on the Jackson County Fairgrounds if the public would like to come out and view them. The public is also welcome to reminisce with the riders at each of our breaks as well.
